Research and Documentation Fees
NO CHARGE FOR AN INITIAL REVIEW:
We will be happy to conduct an initial review of JPEG images and photographs of your works of art free of charge to see if they warrant further research and / or formal appraisal.
We DO NOT recommend significant or possibly significant works be appraised based solely on photographs. When possible, we prefer to perform a physical inspection on pieces of extreme merit and/or value. We believe this is the most accurate and honest approach to base a solid and valid opinion. It is hard to come to a firm conclusion if we can not physically see the piece in question.
PLEASE NOTE: The above complimentary service does not include determining the current market value of specific artworks.
APPRAISAL FEES
Appraisal for: Insurance Purposes, Equitable Distribution: $100.00/hr
Appraisal for: IRS Purposes, Estate Taxes, Charitable Contribution Deduction: $100.00/hr
Appraisal for: Fair Market Value for Resale: $75.00/hr
Expert Witness and Litigation Cases (Such as lawsuits, insurance disputes): $200.00/hr
Deposition and court days are charged as full days: $1,200.00/day
Review Appraisal: To review the methodology and/or value of an existing appraisal: $200.00
General Fine Art Consulting Services: $50.00/hr.
Fees for large collections begin at a one-day rate of $1200.00 for out of town / international conferences plus accommodations and travel and $600.00 within each scholars own geographical area. Expenses are billed based on actual cost. One-day fee as a retainer for our services required.
We will be happy to discuss all fees and rates for in home or in office consultations.
The cost of appraisals, authentication, and research vary, depending on the work to be done, the number of pieces, the amount of inspection time, research time, additional assistance (if required) and documentation that may be required by the LACM team. All of which are discussed upon initial inspection.
In addition to two bound reports, the client may also ask for digital images on cd of their collection. The cost for a cd is $15.00, additional reports are $25.00. Fees and expenses required for completion of the reports are covered by the client upon client confirmation and approval.
TRANSPORTATION FEES
We are in contact with a number of Transportation choices. Depending on the specific needs of the assignment. PLEASE NOTE: We do our best to financially accommodate clients when choosing methods of travel, however travel expenses are not included in the research, they are in addition to and include travel time.
